  1. a marriage wherein a man's female relative (daughter, sister, etc.) is married off to another man in exchange for that man's female relative to be married to him with no dowry paid by either
    الرَّسُولُ الله صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم نَهَى الشِّغَارَ فِي الإِسْلَامِ.
    ar-rasūlu llāh ṣallā llāhu ʕalayhi wasallam nahā aš-šiḡāra fī l-ʔislāmi.
    The messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade shighâr in Islam.
