- a marriage wherein a man's female relative (daughter, sister, etc.) is married off to another man in exchange for that man's female relative to be married to him with no dowry paid by either
- الرَّسُولُ الله صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم نَهَى الشِّغَارَ فِي الإِسْلَامِ.
