Etymology

Apparently diminutive of a *كَمِيت (*kamīt) as a passive participle from كَمَتَ (kamata, to cover), and that an extension of a form from the root ك م م (k m m) related to “covering, enveloping”, hence something “shaded” in skin-colour.

      ʕalaykum bikulli kumaytin ʔaḡarra muḥajjalin, ʔaw ʔašqara ʔaḡarra muḥajjalin, ʔaw ʔadhama ʔaḡarra muḥajjalin
