Etymology
Literally, “the language of the ḍād” (ض), based on the widespread belief among Arabs that the sound it stands for, originally /ɮˤ/, later merging with /ðˤ/ in spoken dialects and artificially preserved as /dˤ/ in Modern Standard Arabic, is unique to Arabic and found in no other language.
