Etymology

Vulgarized form of Classical Persian نگنده (nigende). Doublet of نكنده (nigende, niyende, double seam).

Noun

لكنده • (lekende) (definite accusative لكنده‌یی (lekendeyi), plural لكنده‌لر (lekendeler))

  1. basting, tack, a loose seam used to temporarily fasten pieces of cloth and that will be later removed
    Synonym: تكل (teğel, teyel)
  2. barrel, a cylindrical metal box in watches and clocks, closed by a cover and containing the mainspring
