Etymology

Borrowed from Aramaic מֹורִיקָא (mōrīqā) / ܡܽܘܪܻܝܩܳܐ (mūrīqā, safflower), from the root י־ר־ק (y-r-q) that corresponds to Arabic و ر ق (w r q) related to yellow or green colours, compare يَرَقَان (yaraqān) and Proto-Semitic *waraq-.
