Etymology

Inherited from Middle Persian [script needed] (myzdwbl /⁠mizdwar⁠/, hireling, hired laborer),[1] from [script needed] (mzd /⁠mizd⁠/, reward, hire), whence modern مزد (muzd / mozd).
