    ʔatānā muswadda al-wajhi baʕda l-mukālamati fa-ẓanannā ʔanna ʕamaliyyata ṣadīqihi l-jirāḥayyata bāʔat bi-l-fašali
    He came to us [with] his face darkened after the call so we assumed that his friend's medical procedure had failed.

      wa-ʔiḏā buššira ʔaḥaduhum bi-l-ʔunṯā ẓalla wajhuhu muswaddan wa-huwa kaẓīmun
      Whenever one of them is given the good news of a baby girl, his face grows gloomy, as he suppresses his rage.
