ܗܠ
Assyrian Neo-Aramaic
Etymology
Disputed:
- Related to Classical Syriac ܠܗܲܠ (l-hal, “afar, beyond”).
- Also proposed is a Univerbation of ܗܵܐ (hā) + ܠ- (l-).
- Also proposed to be derived from ܗܵܠܵܐ (hālā, “still”), ultimately Arabic.
