From Aramaic זוּלְבָּנָא (zulbānā); related to Mishnaic Hebrew זוּבָּן (zubbān, the bag that contains a male animal's member) and Tigrinya / Tigre ዝባን (zəban, back), all of unknown origin, and possibly by dissimilation to Tigre and Ge'ez ዘነብ (zänäb, tail).
