ܡܥܬܐ

Assyrian Neo-Aramaic

Etymology

Related to Classical Syriac ܡܵܥܵܐ (small coin). Originally probably meant “berry, grain, seed,” before shifting to “small coin” in Classical Aramaic varieties. The usage in modern Assyrian Aramaic therefore maintains the older original meaning.
