ܦܬܘܪܐ
Assyrian Neo-Aramaic
Etymology
Inherited from Aramaic פָּתוּרָא (pāṯūrā), from Akkadian 𒍎 (paššūrum), ultimately from Sumerian 𒍎 (banšur); possibly shifting from /ū/ to /ō/ by assimilation to the active noun pattern CāCōCā. Compare also Classical Syriac ܦܵܬܘܼܪܵܐ (pāṯūrā) and Arabic فَاثُور (fāṯūr).
