Inherited from Prakrit 𑀓𑀼𑀢𑁆𑀣𑀼𑀁𑀪𑀭𑀻 (kutthuṃbharī), from Sanskrit कुस्तुम्बरी (kustumbarī). Compare Marathi कोथिंबीर (kothimbīr), Konkani कोतमीर (kōtmīr).
