The first part is from जमना (jamnā, “to solidify”) and the second part is derived from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀖𑀝𑁆𑀝 (ghaṭṭa, “dense, collection, troop”), from Sanskrit घटा (ghaṭā, “mass”), whence घटा (ghaṭā, “cloud”).
