Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘚𑘻𑘽𑘐𑘨 (ḍoṃgara), from Prakrit 𑀟𑀼𑀁𑀕𑀭 (ḍuṃgara). Compare Gujarati ડુંગર (ḍuṅgar), Marwari डूंगर (ḍūṅgar), Kachchi ડોંગર (ḍoṅgar).
