Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘤𑘰𑘮𑘳𑘩𑘲 (bāhulī), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀩𑀸𑀳𑀼𑀮𑁆𑀮𑀻 (bāhullī), perhaps from Sanskrit बाहुल (bāhula, “arm armour; sleeve”).
