Etymology

Inherited from Sanskrit विवाहिन् (vivāhin) (compare Old Marathi 𑘪𑘲𑘪𑘰𑘮𑘻 (vīvāho)). Related to विहीण (vihīṇ, son's or daughter's mother-in-law). Cognate with Bengali বিয়াই (biẏai).
