Inherited from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀛𑀭𑀡 (jharaṇa), from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀛𑀭 (*jhara, “flowing, melting”) + -𑀅𑀡 (-aṇa, nominal suffix), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *gẓʰaras. Doublet of ঝরা (jhora) and ক্ষরণ (khoron).
