Inherited from Early Assamese নভৈলে (nobhoile), which is ন- (no-, “not”) +‎ ভ (bho, “be, happen”) +‎ -ইলে (-ile, “conditional participle”). In Assamese it can be broken as ন (no) +‎ হ (ho) +‎ -ইলে (-ile).
