Inherited from Magadhi Prakrit [Term?] (compare Maharastri Prakrit 𑀫𑀸𑀉𑀲𑀺 (māusi)), from Sanskrit মাতুঃষ্ৱসৃ (mātuḥṣbasṛ). Cognate with Bengali মাসি (maśi), Sylheti ꠝꠂ (moi), Hindi मौसी (mausī), Marathi मावशी (māvśī).
