ટાંકી
Gujarati
Etymology
Inherited from Prakrit 𑀝𑀁𑀓 (ṭaṃka, “ditch, reservoir”), of uncertain further origin.[1] Has been linked to Sanskrit तडाग (taḍāga, “pond”) (whence તળાવ (taḷāv, “pond, cistern”)), though this seems spurious.[2] Cognate with Marathi टांकें (ṭāṅkẽ).
