Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀩𑀸𑀭 (bāra) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-), from Sanskrit द्वार (dvā́ra, “door”).[1] Doublet of દાર (dār) and દ્વાર (dvār). Cognate with Sindhi ٻاريِ (ḇārī).
