- Excluding dialectal exceptions, is to be used with uncountable nouns only. The form used with countable nouns is எத்தனை (ettaṉai).
- The Bangalore Tamil is likely influenced by Kannada ಎಷ್ಟು (eṣṭu) being used for both countable and uncountable nouns.
