Borrowed from Telugu తెలుంగు (teluṅgu), an older form of తెలుగు (telugu), itself probably from Proto-Dravidian *teṉ (“south”). Compare Tamil தெலுங்கு (teluṅku). Doublet of തെലുഗു (telugu), a later borrowing.

1. Telugu; a South-Central Dravidian language spoken predominantly in the southern Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

   Synonyms: തെലുഗു (telugu), വടുകം (vaṭukaṁ)

2. The Telugu script; the alphasyllabary used to write the Telugu language.

1. Of or pertaining to the Telugu language or it's speakers.

• The form തെലുങ്ക് (teluṅkŭ) is more common than the term തെലുഗു (telugu), which is a later borrowing from modern Telugu.
