พะแนง

Thai

Alternative forms

  • (obsolete) ผะแนง
  • (misspelled) พแนง, แพนง

Etymology

Unknown, some have linked it to be a loan word from Malay panggang (to grill; grilled), although this is doubtful, judging by the consonants. First attested in 1890 as a type of "grilled chicken" (see also at the Wikipedia article).
