Etymology
From หาง (hǎang, “tail”) + จระเข้ (jɔɔ-rá-kêe, “crocodile”), literally “crocodile's tail”, referring to the tapering, spiky leaves of the plant. Compare Lao ຫາງແຂ້ (hāng khǣ).
