Etymology
Learned borrowing from Sanskrit अमनुष्य (amanuṣya, “demon”, literally “nonhuman”), from अ (a, “not”) + मनुष्य (manuṣya, “human”), equivalent to Thai อ (à) + มนุษย์ (má-nút). Cognate with Lao ອະມະນຸດ (ʼa ma nut).
