Noun
โทโทษ • (too-tôot)
- a kind of Thai word that is normally spelled with the first tone mark (ไม้เอก (mái-èek)) but then spelled with the second tone mark (ไม้โท (mái-too)), in order to fit in the tone-forced poem (โคลง (kloong)), and it is still pronounced the same. For example, ง่าย (ngâai) becomes หง้าย, เล่น (lên) becomes เหล้น (hlêen). Some words are already the obsolete spellings.
