Etymology

From Proto-Karen *g-rjaᴬ (hundred), from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *pV-rja(k) (hundred). Cognate with Eastern Pwo က်ုယာ (kə jà), Pa'o Karen ရျာꩻ (rya), Burmese ရာ (ra).

Numeral

ကယၤ • (ka yā)

A number must precede the word to express hundreds, for example, တကယၤ (ta ka yā, one hundred).
