တစ္ဆေ

Burmese

Etymology

According to MED, possibly borrowed from a Pali tajjaka, though said word does not seem to be attested in the Pali-English Dictionary. The Pali word in question may be a nominal formation from or related to tajjeti (to frighten, threaten, curse, rail against), itself a causative of tarjati, from Sanskrit तर्जति (tárjati, to threaten, scold); see there for more.
