Etymology

From မူ (moo, “heaven”) +‎ ခိၣ် (khoh̀, “head”). The first syllable is from Proto-Karen *m̥oʔ (“sky”).[1] Cognate with Eastern Pwo မုဂ်​ခေါဟ် (màʊ​khʊ́), Western Kayah ꤗꤟꤢꤪꤋꤢꤨ꤬ (mo̤ahkù).
