Etymology

Borrowed from Pali rājavaṃsa, itself from Sanskrit राजवंश (rājavaṃśa, dynasty), alternatively analyzable as Pali rāja (king) + vaṃsa (bamboo; lineage). Cognate with Mon ရာဇာဝၚ် and Shan ရႃႇဝၢင်ႇ (ràa wàang). See also ရာဇ (raja., king).
