သွတ်

Burmese

Etymology

From Proto-Lolo-Burmese *swat (to stick into), with cognates outside of Lolo-Burmese either undiscovered or lacking; cognate with Danu သွတ် (STEDT).

The "quick" sense is grouped with the "insert" sense by MED, though it is unclear if they are etymologically connected; Luce 1981 mentions neither sense, and STEDT does not mention the "quick" sense.
