ადლი

Georgian

Etymology

Ultimately from Arabic عَدْل (ʕadl, justice; right measure; in numismatics (coin) of just weight; of equal value).[1][2] The sense development is comparable to the one that happened in the hapax Middle Armenian ատիլ (atil, a unit of weight) from the same source,[3] if it is not a misspelling for աւղիւ (awłiw).[2]

Noun

ადლი • (adli)

  1. (historical) a unit of length equal to about 101,15 cm, later displaced by არშინი (aršini)

Descendants

  • Bats: ადლ (adl)
