1. (dated, sometimes proscribed) Baltic, the Baltics, the Baltic states (a geographic region of Northern Europe, consisting of the three countries to the east of the Baltic Sea, i.e. Latvia, Lithuanian and Estonia; in full, the Baltics or the Baltic states)

It is somewhat discouraged and dated term, because of its negative connotations due to the etymology, which hints at the Soviet era occupation of these countries. This is especially true in the Baltic countries themselves, who would rather not be described by this term.
