Etymology

This aorist's stem is a syncope ἐλθ- (elth-) of weak stem ἐλυθ- (eluth-) of a verb root also appearing in Epic ἐλῠθεῖν (elŭtheîn), from Proto-Indo-European *h₁ludʰét (to arrive).[1] Discussion of stems at ἔρχομαι Notes.
