(pr-ꜥꜣ, “palace, pharaoh”). The initial p has been reanalysed as a masculine singular definite article and omitted. Cognate to Coptic ⲫⲁⲣⲁⲱ (pharaō), Hebrew פַּרְעֹה, and Ancient Greek φαραώ (pharaṓ).
