Etymology
From 鼻 (hana, “nose”) + 詰まり (tsumari, “obstruction, clogging”, 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 詰まる (tsumaru, “to be blocked”)). The tsu changes to zu as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
