Etymology
Borrowed from Manchu ᠪᠣᡥᠣᡵᡳ (bohori). Doublet of 伯力 (Bólì, “Khabarovsk”), which is an alternative transliteration of the same place name. The city was moved from present-day Khabarovsk to present-day Boli county after signing of Treaty of Aigun to continue its function as a military fort.
