Etymology
Short for 德涅斯特河沿岸摩爾達維亞共和國/德涅斯特河沿岸摩尔达维亚共和国 (Dénièsītè Hé Yán'àn Mó'ěrdáwéiyà gònghéguó, “Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic”). Shortened so because most of its de facto controlled area is situated on the left bank of Dniester river, with few exceptions e.g. Bender on the right bank.
