Etymology
Derived via ordinary Japanese abbreviation mechanics, dropping the second portion from each of the two terms making up compound 運動音痴 (undō onchi, “someone who is bad at athletics”, literally “exercise tone-deaf”). Probably also influenced by うんち (unchi, “poop, crap”); compare English crap, as in "to be crap at something".
