숙- (suk-, to bend) + -이- (-i-, causative suffix) + -다 (-da, suffix conventionally given for citation forms).

First attested in the Seokbo sangjeol (釋譜詳節 / 석보상절), 1447, as Middle Korean 수기〮다〮 (Yale: swùkí-tá).
