아산
Korean
Etymology
Sino-Korean word from 牙山, renamed in 1413 from earlier 아주 (牙州, Aju) as part of an administrative reform to reserve the character 州 (ju) for larger towns only. 아주 (牙州, Aju) was itself a sinicization of 牙述 (MC ngae zywit), the ancient Baekje name for the place.
