1. The Linear B syllabic letter ⟨ni⟩

Ventris (1973) concluded the connection of 'fig' to the syllable ni was likely from Minoan. Neumann (1957) had read it as related to Ancient Greek νικύλεον (nikúleon, “sp. fig”), which has a Pre-Greek origin.
