Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *sebin- (to rejoice), from the reflexive form of *seb- (to love), equivalent to 𐰾𐰋 (seb-, to love, like) +‎ 𐰤 (-in). Cognate with Turkish sevinmek (to rejoice, be happy), Bashkir һөйөнөү (höyönöw).
