Suffix

-észik

  1. (verb-forming suffix) When it is added to a verb, it creates a new verb expressing a repetitive action. When it is added to a noun, it creates a verb expressing collecting and gathering something.
    ‎legel (“to graze, pasture”) + ‎-észik → ‎legelészik (“to graze slowly and peacefully”)
    ‎egér (“mouse”) + ‎-észik → ‎egerészik (“to mouse, to hunt or catch mice”)

Usage notes

  • (verb-forming suffix) Variants:
    -ászik is added to a back vowel word
    -észik is added to a front vowel word
