Etymology

From Middle Korean -로〮소〮ᅌᅵ다〮 (-lwóswóngìtá), through -로쇠 (-lwoswoy), -ㄹ쇠 (-lswoy).[1] Ultimately a combination of Middle Korean suffixes -롯〮- (-lwós-, emotive suffix) +‎ -ᄋᆞ〮ᅌᅵ- (-óngì-, politeness suffix) +‎ 다〮 (, declarative suffix).
