1. nominalizing suffix that forms abstract nouns from verbs

   cha·a (“to eat”) → cha·ani (“food”)

   chanchia (“to think”) → chanchiani (“thought”)

From -a- (linking vowel) +‎ -ni (infinitive suffix).
