From arbën + -a f (“the”). Gheg variant of (Standard/Tosk/Arbëreshë) Albanian Arbëria (“Albania”). The old name of Albania until (around) the 18th century, when it inexplicably fell out of use in favour of Shqipëria. See arbën and shqip.
