Bolmen

Swedish

Etymology

Unknown. Possibly derived from Old Swedish *bolmber (large; expansive). Compare with the verb bolma (billow). Earliest known individual form attested since 1689 as New Latin Bollmen Lacus (Lake Bolmen); but part of Old Swedish Bolmsø (Bolmen island) since 1293.[1]

See also the lakeside locality Odensjö (literally Odin's Lake), which is proposedly derived from a former name of lake Bolmen.[2]
