Etymology

Blend of Brit +‎ bong (the clang of a large bell). Believed to originate from a 4chan greentext in which a user jokingly claims to have witnessed Londoners chanting "SEVEN BONG" in the streets after Big Ben chimed seven o'clock.[1]
