Etymology

Blend of Brit +‎ bong (“the clang of a large bell”). Believed to originate from a 4chan greentext in which a user jokingly claims to have witnessed Londoners chanting "SEVEN BONG" in the streets after Big Ben chimed seven o'clock.[1]
